Pumpkin chocolate cake

What you need: 2 springform tins diameter 20 cm

For the dough

  • 115ml buttermilk
  • 200g pumpkin puree
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 170g soft butter
  • 100g white sugar
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 180g flour
  • 75g cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

For the decoration

  • Decocino sugar decoration ghosts
  • Decocino edible sugar eyes
  • Decocino edible sugar eyes with blood

For the icing

  • 100g icing sugar
  • 450g cream cheese
  • 1 tsp tonka paste
  • 250g cream
  • 1/3 pack instant gelatin
  • Colour paste yellow and red

For the glaze

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 75g cream
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 50ml water
  • 50g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp crème fraiche



  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix the buttermilk, pumpkin and vanilla. Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy, add the eggs and the yolk to the mixture and continue to whip until it has a frothy consistency.
  3. Mix the flour with the cocoa, baking powder and salt, stir into the egg mixture alternately with the pumpkin mix.
  4. Spread half of the mixture in 2 springform tins lined with baking paper and bake for approx. 35 minutes each. Take it out and let it cool.
  5. Whip the cream for the frosting with the gelatin until stiff. Mix the powdered sugar with the cream cheese, the tonka paste and the colours to form a smooth, orange-coloured mass. Don't stir it too much, or the mixture will become a liquid. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Spread a quarter of the cream on one base. Place the second base on top and coat the cake with the remaining cream; cool for at least 60 minutes.
  7. Heat the butter and cream, melt the chocolate while stirring.
  8. Simmer 50ml water and 50g powdered sugar, stir in the crème fraiche and stir into the chocolate cream.
  9. Let the glaze cool a little and pour over the cake. Let it solidify and decorate it however you want.
